London moments....

At the moment I plan my short trip to London. Its just six day, so I have to plan everything really well and already notice that the time is too short. So here my plans for London:

Antony Gormley: One & Other

6th July 2009 until 14th October 2009 The Fourth Plinth, Trafalgar Square, Westminster, London, WC2N 5DS

First he gave us The Angel of the North, then we had body doubles of him popping up all over London. Now modern British artist Antony Gormley is taking over the prominent empty Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square and he's putting ordinary people up there for our observation - and amusement, no doubt. A total of 2,400 people will get to stand on the plinth during the 3-month installation for an hour each. Their view is a scenic one, looking out over the National Gallery, Nelson's Column, the bronze lions and the fountains - not to mention the hundreds of people below... expectantly looking up at them. The first selection of people for plinth duty for July have been chosen and the 615 include David Rosenberg - a designer who was involved in the pedestrianisation of Trafalgar Square, Heather Pringle who'll celebrate her 20th birthday (very publicly), and Gwynneth Pedler, who at 83 is the oldest plinther so far. There's a seemingly unending voyeuristic appetite for watching other people (the popularity of Big Brother is a case in point). Couple that with the live, 'anything may happen' element of this artistic experiment, and you can be sure it's going to make for compulsive viewing.

Antony Gormley's One & Other Fourth Plinth project is commissioned by the Mayor of London and produced in partnership with Sky Arts. Sky Arts reports live from the plinth on 6th July at 8.30am, broadcasting a 24hr feed on www.oneandother.co.uk. A weekly programme also goes out on Fridays at 7pm from 10th July on Sky Arts 1 and Sky Arts 1 HD.

he Vienna Fashion Observatory >18.07.2009 bis 20.09.2009<

Eine Ausstellung über Menschen und Mode in Wien Basierend auf dem Prinzip der Internet-Blogs im Bereich Mode thematisiert „The Vienna Fashion Observatory" das Verhältnis von Mode und Stadt am Beispiel von Wien. Im Gegensatz zu üblichen Projekten zum Thema Mode geht es bei dieser Mode-Ausstellung im erweiterten Sinne nicht darum, ModedesignerInnen oder deren Produkte zu promoten, sondern die TrägerInnen und KonsumentInnen in ihrem individuellen Umgang mit Mode als Form persönlicher Stilistik zu porträtieren. Gleichzeitig ergibt sich daraus ein differenziertes Porträt von Wien als Stadt, das sich eben nicht auf die fashionablen Schauseiten beschränkt. Entsprechend fokussiert „The Vienna Fashion Observatory" auf alle 23 Bezirke und arbeitet mit einer weiten Definition des Begriffs „Mode". www.theviennafashionobservatory.com

Gastdesignerinnen im August: d2 - dypol deductions >07.08.2009 bis 03.09.2009<

Hinter der Theorie von „d²" stehen die Linzer Designerinnen Astrid Hofstetter und Renate Schuler, die mit ihren Modelabels actrid und rNaT das Label als gemeinsame Trademark unter der Prämisse: „Die Ableitung des Besonderen aus dem Allgemeinen" gegründet haben. dypol deductions ist wie ein Magnetfeld zu denken: basierend auf zwei Polen, zwei individuellen Designpositionen, die unabhängig voneinander eigenständige Kollektionen entwickeln, diese aber miteinander in einer Präsentation zu einem Ganzen vereinen. actrid Die Mode, Hüte und Accessoires des Labels actrid stehen für klare Linien, Schlichtheit und betonte Sachlichkeit. Form, Farbgebung und Gestaltung ergeben sich durch gewählte Themen. Das Label sucht den Grenzbereich von Modedesign und Kunst, deren Paradigmen in den verschiedenen Projekten alternierend fokussiert werden. rNaT Mit dem Background Theater, Oper und Performance inszeniert das Label rNaT Kollektionen, die aus klassischen Silhouetten, Schnitten mit präziser Linienführung, historisch inspirierten Stilistiken und cutting edge Design eine portable, urbane, frische und mutige Mode kreiert.
